To ensure full compliance with US, UK and International requirements to assure complete network isolation during a cellular device fornesic examination iXAM® has been designed to work without a SIM card inserted in the device.
No SIM card installed = Complete Network Isolation Assured!
(Best Practice is therfore to always remove the SIM Card when imaging all iPhones™)
What if I want to leave the SIM Card in? - You can if you want to!
The iXAM extraction software never attempts to connect to the network during the course of imaging the device memory. So it is still safe to leave the SIM installed but it is not best practice.
What about WiFi & Bluetooth? - Isolation is assured for these too.
The extraction software does not start up the onboard OS - so at no point during the imaging process does the device even switch on ANY of its wireless communications capability.
